Kitchen Remodeling Project - Wiswell Family
The Wiswells loved their house, but hated the kitchen. All the cabinets were lined up along a wall, and the center island was much too small to hold more than three people. The family had placed a glass table at the end to create more space, but it would just end up getting in the way when people were going out the door.
The kitchen's original cabinets were builder-grade. Basically, they were all one size and just screwed to the wall. The owners had waited for years to replace them, and were more than happy to welcome their cherry cabinets, custom granite counters, and very cool root beerglass backsplash with under cabinet lights.
New kitchen highlights
18x18 tile added on the diagonal and matched to wood floor height in connecting family room.
New center island was built to accommodate five people at family gatherings.
Built-in bar with built-in fridge included at owners request.
New granite island cut down to countertop height.
Wine fridge positioned next to back patio door for back yard cooking.
The Wiswell family chose cherry cabinets with warm brown stain and all-new appliances in stainless steel. I personally designed and installed new decorative art behind the cooktop. The under-cabinet lighting is LED, which conserves energy with ample light for cooking.
