Kawakami family Kitchen remodeling project.
The Kawakami family wanted a larger kitchen to accommodate their growing family of girls. The old kitchen was outdated and unusable, so a new plan was created that included the family room and dinning room. The kitchen footprint was only extended into the backyard by two feet to allow room for an island.
The original kitchen window was replaced. A modern lighting plan was created to update the task and undercabinet lighting. A center wall built to install utilities for a new island cooktop, and downdraft venting was installed through the floor to the outside.
New kitchen highlights:
New oak floor with cinnamon stain was used in 2 1/4 inch widths (darker color blended well with cabinets)
Ample room to seat 10 people for dinner in just the kitchen.
Attached family room TV viewable from kitchen.
Alder cabinets built and installed along with a desk area in kitchen.
The updated kitchen features all-new appliances, a built-in cook top, and double ovens.
The new islands offers plenty of room for all the girls to do their homework.
