Kitchen Remodeling Project - Barrett Family
With the Barrett's new kitchen, we stayed more or less true to the original footprint. The owners liked the layout, but were not fond of their old cabinets. At one time they tried refacing them, but now the cabinets were peeling in some places and looked cheap in others. The Barretts wanted to "countrify" their kitchen with a casual, comfortable look and feel.
Since the Barretts favored white woodwork, they ordered white cabinets for the new kitchen. It took weeks for them to pick the backsplash, but they ultimately decided to go with tumbled marble in 3x6 and use a sealer and enhancer. The colors all pulled together beautifully in the end.
New kitchen highlights
Classic bead board cabinet door in shaker style.
Rio-Bianco granite with bevel edge and no backsplash in granite.
Satin nickel pulls and knobs.
Custom-designed dog door to separate kitchen from living area.
New paint on ceiling and walls.
Soft-close maple cabinets were used throughout remodel-even in the laundry room. Extra space was uncovered in all areas of this project, which was useful for added storage. The Barretts were absolutely thrilled with the finished project and even made me a delicious cherry pie.
